If you sat the MP combined recruitment test in June 2026 for Van Rakshak, Kshetra Rakshak, Jail Prahari or Assistant Jail Superintendent, here is the short version of where things stand. The online written exam (CBT) is over, the answer-key and question-objection stage is how MPESB moves next, and the result/scorecard is still awaited as of 29 June 2026. After the written result, only candidates who clear the cut-off go to the physical stage: measurement plus a walk test or Physical Efficiency Test (PET) that is qualifying only and carries no marks. This is one combined exam run by MPESB (Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board) for four posts across two departments: Forest (Van Rakshak and Kshetra Rakshak) and Jail (Jail Prahari and Assistant Jail Superintendent). The official name is the "Van Rakshak & Kshetra Rakshak (Karyapalik), Jail Prahari (Karyapalik) and Assistant Jail Superintendent Combined Recruitment Test 2026". What just happened and what is next#

The CBT was conducted in June 2026. One shift, the second shift of 07/06/2026, was postponed for technical reasons and re-held on 20/06/2026 (first shift, 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM). Candidates from that shift had to download a fresh admit card; all other shifts ran as scheduled and were not affected. This was confirmed in the official notice (vanrakshak2026_mahatvapoornasuchna.pdf) on the board's website.

With the exam over, the normal sequence is: provisional answer key and question-objection window on the "Question Objections / Response Sheet" page, then the final answer key, then the result and scorecard, and only after that the call letters for the physical stage. The result has not been declared yet, so the honest status is "result awaited".

The four posts at a glance#

The four posts share the same written exam structure (100 marks, 2 hours, objective, no negative marking) but differ in department, level, eligibility and physical standards. Here is how they compare.

The combined total comes to 728 + 169 + 757 + 25 = 1,679 posts (Van Rakshak 728, Kshetra Rakshak 169, Jail Prahari 757, Assistant Jail Superintendent 25), as per the official rule book. Some media reports mention a higher revised total, but the official rule book figure is 1,679, so rely on the official number. The quick eligibility map: Van Rakshak, Kshetra Rakshak and Jail Prahari need a 10th pass; Assistant Jail Superintendent needs a graduate degree, and its written paper is set at graduate standard.

Answer key and question objections: how it works#

After a CBT, MPESB releases a provisional answer key and your response sheet on its "Question Objections / Response Sheet" page, gives a short window to raise objections against any question or answer, and then publishes the final answer key after reviewing those objections. Your final score is calculated on the final key.

A few practical points. Objections must usually be backed by a credible source or reference, not just an opinion. There is normally a per-question fee, and the objection window is short, so check the page daily once the key is live. The exact provisional-answer-key date, the objection-window dates and the per-question fee are shown on the official Question Objections page, so check them there before you act. Do not pay any third party to file objections for you; the process is done by the candidate on the official portal.

Result watch: honest status#

The provisional answer key and the question-objection window are now over (the objection window closed in late June 2026), so the final answer key and the result are the next steps. The physical stage does not add marks; it only decides who qualifies to continue. So your written score is what actually places you on the merit list.

How many candidates get called for the physical depends on the post. For the forest posts (Van Rakshak and Kshetra Rakshak), candidates up to 5 times the vacancies are called, category-wise. For the jail posts (Jail Prahari and Assistant Jail Superintendent), up to 10 times the vacancies are called. The written qualifying cut-off for the forest posts is 33% for UR and 23% for SC and ST, with a 10% relaxation for EWS.

Physical standards: Van Rakshak (Forest Guard)#

Van Rakshak is a Forest Department executive post and is district-cadre, with a district-wise merit list built from the written exam. Eligibility is 10th pass, and the pay scale is Rs 19,500 to 62,000. After the written result, qualifying candidates face physical measurement and then a walk test.

Physical measurement:

• Male height: 163 cm (152 cm for SC/ST).
• Male chest: 79 cm with a minimum 5 cm expansion.
• Female height: 150 cm (145 cm for SC/ST). Chest measurement is not required for women.
• In MP Naxal-affected areas, the male chest standard is relaxed to 74 cm normal and 79 cm expanded.

Walk test (paidal chaal): men must walk 25 km in 4 hours; women must walk 14 km in 4 hours. This is qualifying only, with no marks for finishing faster. You should reach the venue at least 60 minutes before the reporting time, and your admit card is mandatory to be allowed in. Physical standards: Kshetra Rakshak (Field Guard)#

The most important thing to know is that the Field Guard physical standards are exactly the same as Van Rakshak. The real difference is structural, not physical: Van Rakshak is a district-cadre post, while Kshetra Rakshak is a state-level post with a state-level seniority merit list. Eligibility is 10th pass, and the written exam is identical (100 marks, 2 hours, qualifying 33%/23%, EWS 10% relaxation, 5x called for the physical).

Physical measurement (same as Van Rakshak):

• Male height: 163 cm (152 cm for SC/ST), chest 79 cm with 5 cm expansion.
• Female height: 150 cm (145 cm for SC/ST), chest not required.
• Naxal-affected-area chest relaxation: 74 cm normal / 79 cm expanded.

Walk test: men 25 km in 4 hours; women 14 km in 4 hours (qualifying only). Kshetra Rakshak has 169 vacancies as per the official rule book (UR 44, SC 28, ST 34, OBC 46, EWS 17). So if you are training for one of these forest posts, you can prepare for the same body standards and the same walk test regardless of which one you applied for.

Physical standards: Jail Prahari (Jail Guard)#

Jail Prahari is a Jail Department executive post with 757 vacancies and a pay scale of Rs 19,500 to 62,000 (Level 4). Eligibility is 10th pass, and the age range is 18 to 33 years, with the upper limit relaxed up to 38 for reserved and eligible categories. The written exam is 100 marks over 2 hours with no negative marking, and up to 10 times the vacancies are called for the physical stage.

Physical measurement:

• Male height: 165 cm.
• Male chest: 83 cm.
• Female height: 158 cm.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

• 800 m run: men in 2 minutes 50 seconds; women in 4 minutes 00 seconds.
• Shot put: men 20 ft; women 16 ft.

Physical standards: Assistant Jail Superintendent (the senior post)#

Assistant Jail Superintendent is the senior, supervisory post in this group, with 25 vacancies (UR 8, EWS 2, SC 5, ST 8, OBC 2) and a pay scale of Rs 36,200 to 1,14,800 (Level 9). It is a graduate-level post, and the written paper is set at graduate standard: 100 objective questions for 100 marks (1 mark each) over 2 hours, in a single paper covering General Knowledge, General Hindi, General English, General Maths and General Science. Up to 10 times the vacancies are called for the physical stage.

Phase 2 happens at Jail Headquarters under a committee headed by the DG, Jail and Correctional Services. It includes biometric verification, physical measurement and a Physical Efficiency Test. This PET is more demanding than the Jail Prahari one and has three events.

Biometric verification and physical measurement are also recorded in Phase 2, but for this post the rule book sets the physical bar through the three PET events above rather than a separate minimum height and chest standard like the other posts. Confirm any measurement detail on the official rule book. On joining, the probation stipend is 70% / 80% / 90% over the first three years, and pension is under NPS.

Selection process recap#

For all four posts the flow is the same in shape: Phase 1 is the online written CBT, and this is the only stage that counts for merit. Phase 2 is physical measurement plus the physical test (the walk test for forest posts or the PET for jail posts), and it is qualifying only, with no marks added. The forest physicals are conducted by the Forest Corporation; the jail physicals are conducted by Jail HQ.

• Step 1: Written CBT result and merit (exam already held, result awaited).
• Step 2: Call for physical: 5x vacancies for forest posts, 10x for jail posts.
• Step 3: Physical measurement (height, and chest for the relevant posts).
• Step 4: Walk test or PET (qualifying).

How to prepare for the physical now#

Start training before the result is out, because once call letters are issued you may have only a short window. What you practise depends on your post.

• Forest posts (Van Rakshak / Kshetra Rakshak): build walking and endurance. Men need 25 km in 4 hours and women 14 km in 4 hours, so practise sustained brisk walking on roads and uneven ground, not just short bursts. Carry your own water and break in your shoes well before the test day.
• Jail Prahari: focus on the 800 m run (target under 2:50 for men, under 4:00 for women) and shot put (20 ft men, 16 ft women). Work on running pace and on throwing technique, not just strength.
• Assistant Jail Superintendent: this is the toughest physical, with 800 m, long jump and shot put. Train all three. The run target is faster (2:40 men, 3:40 women), the long jump needs run-up and take-off practice, and the shot is heavier (7.260 kg for men).

For everyone: keep your admit card and ID safe, plan to reach the venue early (at least 60 minutes before reporting for the forest walk test), and keep your documents, including domicile and category certificates, ready for verification. Build up gradually to avoid injury close to the test date.
