MPPSC Assistant Professor New Exam Date 2026: Exam on 30 August, Forms Re-Opened Till 10 July

The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) has announced a new written exam date for the Assistant Professor recruitment in five subjects: History, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Mathematics. The exam for these five subjects will now be held on 30 August 2026 (Sunday), in two sessions on the same day. Just as important, the commission has re-opened the online application window for these subjects, so candidates who missed the original window can apply afresh until 10 July 2026.

Both changes come from Corrigendum (Shuddhipatra) No. 05/14, 23 se 25, 27/2025, dated 25 June 2026, issued by MPPSC, Residency Area, Indore, for the Assistant Professor Recruitment 2025 of the Higher Education Department. The original advertisements for these five subjects were published on 30 December 2025, and everything in them except the dates stays exactly as it was.

Before anything else, note one thing carefully. This notice applies only to the five subjects named above. If you applied for Geography, Sanskrit, Law, Psychology, Geology or Yogic Science under the separate 148-post notification, your exam is still scheduled for 12 July 2026 and nothing in this corrigendum touches it. That distinction is the biggest source of confusion right now, so it gets a full section below.

The Three Changes in the 25 June Corrigendum#

Stripped of official language, the corrigendum does exactly three things for the five subjects:

• Applications re-opened: the online form went live again on 27 June 2026 and will close on 10 July 2026.
• Error-correction window: applicants can correct mistakes in their submitted online forms from 1 July 2026 to 12 July 2026.
• New exam date and mode: the written exam will be held offline (OMR-sheet based) on 30 August 2026 at centres in Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur and Gwalior.

Point 06 of the notice adds that all other terms and conditions of the original advertisements remain unchanged. In plain words, eligibility, fee, vacancy distribution and service conditions are still governed by the subject-wise advertisements dated 30 December 2025 available on mppsc.mp.gov.in.

The corrigendum gives no reason for shifting the exam, so treat any explanation you read elsewhere as guesswork. What matters practically is the new timeline, and that is spelt out in full below.

Which Subjects Are Covered (with Advertisement Numbers)#

The corrigendum lists five advertisements, all originally dated 30 December 2025. Match your subject and advertisement number before acting on anything in this post.

The corrigendum does not repeat the subject-wise vacancy counts. Those figures, along with the category-wise break-up, are printed in each subject's original advertisement on mppsc.mp.gov.in, so open your subject's PDF for the exact numbers before you apply.

Two Assistant Professor Groups: Do Not Mix Them Up#

MPPSC is currently running Assistant Professor recruitment in two separate batches, and each batch has its own dates. Mixing them up can genuinely cost you an exam.

The first batch is the five-subject group this corrigendum covers. The second is the six-subject group of Geography, Sanskrit, Law, Psychology, Geology and Yogic Science, advertised for 148 posts, whose application window closed on 26 June 2026. That group's written exam remains scheduled for 12 July 2026 as per its own notification, and as of 2 July 2026 there is no change notice for it on the MPPSC website. The admit card is where most of the confusion is happening. Candidates in the six-subject group were expecting their admit card from 2 July, but as of the evening of 2 July 2026 the MPPSC admit-card page still shows "Record not found" for that exam, which means it has not been released yet. Candidates in the five-subject group, on the other hand, will get their admit card only from 22 August 2026, because their exam itself has moved to 30 August. Key Dates at One Place#

Here is the complete timeline for the five-subject group, exactly as given in points 03 and 04 of the corrigendum.

Note the small overlap: the correction window runs two days beyond the application deadline. So even if you submit your form on the last date, 10 July, you still have until 12 July to fix any mistake in it.

New Exam Schedule: Two Papers on 30 August#

Point 04 of the corrigendum sets out the exam plan. The test is offline and OMR-sheet based, held in two sessions on the same Sunday.

The exam will be conducted at divisional or district headquarters in four cities: Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur and Gwalior. Your exact centre will be printed on your admit card, which will be available from 22 August 2026 on both mppsc.mp.gov.in and www.mponline.gov.in.

Read the schedule practically. Paper 1 is a short one-hour General Studies paper in the morning, followed by a two-hour gap and then a three-hour paper in your own subject. Plan for a full day at the exam city, and practise filling OMR sheets under timed conditions well before 30 August. Who Can Apply Now, and How#

This re-opening is a genuine second chance. If you were eligible in History, Physics, Chemistry, Botany or Mathematics but missed the original December-January application window, you can now apply between 27 June and 10 July 2026 and appear in the 30 August exam.

Eligibility is as set in the original advertisement for your subject. The general Assistant Professor pattern is a Master's degree in the relevant subject with at least 55 percent marks along with UGC-NET, SET or SLET, or a PhD as per UGC regulations. Details can differ from subject to subject, though, so confirm your own subject's 30 December 2025 advertisement before paying the fee.

The application fee is also as per the original advertisement. MPPSC's standard pattern is a lower, concessional fee for reserved-category candidates who are Madhya Pradesh domiciles, plus a small MP Online portal charge, and the exact amount for your category appears on the payment screen. The application process itself is the usual MP Online route:

1. Open the MPPSC application section on www.mponline.gov.in.
2. Select the Assistant Professor 2025 advertisement for your subject (check the advertisement number against the table above).
3. Register with your basic and educational details.
4. Fill the full form and upload your photo, signature and required documents.
5. Pay the fee applicable to your category and submit.
6. Download and print the confirmation page for your records.

If you had already applied in the original window, you do not need to apply again; your earlier application stands. But if there is any error in it, use the correction window from 1 July to 12 July 2026 to fix it. And whether you are a fresh or an existing applicant, do not leave anything for the evening of 10 July - MP Online sees heavy traffic near deadlines, and a failed payment on the last night has no remedy.

Waiting for a Remaining Subject? Read Point 05#

Point 05 of the corrigendum says the application dates for Assistant Professor advertisements in the remaining subjects will be announced separately. No dates have been given yet, and as of 2 July 2026 nothing further has appeared on the MPPSC website about them.

If your subject is in that remaining list, the sensible move is to prepare as if your window could open on short notice. Keep scanned copies of your certificates, photo and signature ready, get your category and domicile documents in order, and check mppsc.mp.gov.in at least once a week. FAQ: MPPSC Assistant Professor New Exam Date 2026#

Is the MPPSC Assistant Professor exam postponed?

Yes, but only for five subjects. The written exam for History, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Mathematics will now be held on 30 August 2026, as per MPPSC's corrigendum dated 25 June 2026. The corrigendum does not state any reason for the change. The exam for the other Assistant Professor group (Geography, Sanskrit, Law, Psychology, Geology, Yogic Science) is not postponed and remains scheduled for 12 July 2026.

What is the new MPPSC Assistant Professor exam date?

Exactly five: History (Advt 14/2025), Physics (Advt 23/2025), Chemistry (Advt 24/2025), Botany (Advt 25/2025) and Mathematics (Advt 27/2025), all originally advertised on 30 December 2025. If your subject is not in this list, this corrigendum does not apply to you.

What about the other Assistant Professor subjects like Geography and Sanskrit?

They are unaffected. The Geography, Sanskrit, Law, Psychology, Geology and Yogic Science recruitment (148 posts) had its application window close on 26 June 2026, and its written exam remains scheduled for 12 July 2026 as per its notification, with no change notice on the MPPSC website as of 2 July 2026.
